My Musical Connection

Hello! Welcome to my page! If you are reading this then either it's for an assignment or you just randomly found me. Either way I'm just gonna share with you my personal attachment to music. My name is Brodie Patterson and I've been indulging myself in music for as long as I can remember. My earliest cognitive memory of music was when I was around the age of 4. My sisters were playing Michael Jackson on the boom box we had and I was just movin' and groovin' to my heart's content. Cut forward years later I began playing the trombone in the 6th grade, and still do to this day! Since then I have taken on many more instruments such as the guitar, ukulele, piano, ocarina, and recently the kalimba. A huge part of my life is just based around music, but now you get to learn the non-musical stuff about me! I have a wonderful cat named Bella. She's a pure-breed mane coon, which is to say, a really big cat. I live with my aunt and uncle whom I like to consider my true parents. On top of being musical, I also really enjoy doing voice acting/impressions! Ok that's all about me, time to get to the musical aspect of this blog.

Now recently I've been listening to this one song repeatedly, and it's kind of grown onto me in a special kid of way. It's called Blood Upon the Snow and it's written by Hozier and Bear McCreary. This song comes from a popular game called God of War Ragnarök, but the game isn't the main reason why I enjoy this song so much. I enjoy so much because of the use of the instrumentals vocals. Just hearing both parts come together to create one big beautiful piece is so amazing to me. Every time I listen to always get goosebumps.

Now this next song is something that means a lot to me. I first heard it when I was taken in by my Aunt and Uncle (who I call my parents now), and it was played so often that I always hear it when I think of them. My Dad would always tell stories about where he and my mom were from. Whether they were stories about their past or stories about important people from there, those stories always stuck with me. Words really can't describe how proud I am to be able to call my aunt and uncle my mom and dad, but music will. I am proud to walk those Country Roads with them, and hope to keep doing so no matter what.

Now last but not least I have to cover the kind of music I don't like or connect with. I just hope you all can just accept my opinion and not go after me on this one. I really don't like rap. I can't connect with it at all. I'm just really nitpicky and prefer music to have instruments to it and not just the same electronic beat over and over and over again. All it is is just hi-hats with an occasional snare. I know other people really like it and connect with it, but I just can't. There are some that I like but not much.
